Babar-Azam-on-verge-of-breaking-several-records
In the game’s shortest format, Pakistan’s all-format captain Babar Azam is one victory away from breaking yet another record. When Babar’s squad plays New Zealand in the fourth T20I on Thursday (today) at Pindi Cricket Stadium, he will have the opportunity to surpass other captains in terms of victories.
Babar presently shares the record for most victories (42), along with Asghar Afghan of Afghanistan and Eoin Morgan of England. The 28-year-old has won 69 T20 Internationals for the Green Shirts.
Under his leadership, Pakistan advanced to the 2021 and 2022 T20 World Cup semifinals, with the latter tournament seeing them finish in second place.
Babar is about to surpass Rohit Sharma of India’s record of 400 runs set by the International Cricket Council (ICC). He is the only batter in Pakistan who has played more than one tonne in this format. Babar’s hundred places him among the greatest hitters in terms of T20I tonnage.
Babar completed his half-century throughout the game in just 36 balls before slamming 51 runs off the next 22 deliveries, including 36 runs off the final three overs. Babar reached 100 runs off the final ball of the innings by slamming James Neesham for two fours and a six in the final over.
