The popular captain of the Pakistani cricket team and Colombo’s striker player, Babar Azam has maintained his stance against betting by adding a “no betting ad” clause in his contract for the Lanka Premier League 2023 (LPL).
Babar was seen without any betting company labels on his jersey and helmet during the first game of the tournament against Jaffna Kings, reaffirming his belief. Babar Azam made it clear to the Lanka franchise that he will not be involved in any promotional activities related to betting brands due to their anti-Islamic nature.
In the opening game of the league, Babar scored only 7 runs. Other players who are a part of the Colombo Strikers Squad for LPL’23 are Naseem Shah, Wahab Riaz, Niroshan Dickwella, and Mohammad Nawaz, among others.
