Basha Dam Will Operate In 2029 With A Massive Capacity Of 4500MW

The Diamer Basha Dam will have 4,500 megawatts (MW), generating 18,100-gigawatt-hours of electricity annually. The project will have a gross storage capacity of 8.1-million-acre-feet and a live storage capacity of 6.4 MAF. The Diamer Basha dam project is projected to be completed by April 2029, according to government information.

The entire cost of the Diamer Basha dam project is Rs. 1406 122 million, which includes PC-I (land acquisition and resettlement) at Rs. 175,436 million, PC-I (dam Part) at Rs. 479,686 million, and PC-I (Power Generation Facilities) at Rs. 751,000 million.

Since 2009-10, previous governments have spent Rs. Eighty-six thousand six hundred eighty-five million on the project under acquisition of land and resettlement (AL&R), while the current government has spent Rs. Thirty thousand two hundred seventy-three million under AL&R and Rs. Fifty-one thousand five hundred fifty-five million on the dam. Under AL&R, a total of Rs. One hundred sixteen thousand one hundred fifty-eight million has been invested, with Rs—51,555 million spent on the dam component.
