Authorities have seized approximately 700,000 litres of hoarded petrol and diesel during a coordinated raid near Kharian, exposing a large-scale illegal fuel storage operation.
The operation was carried out jointly by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority, and local administrative officials. During the raid, authorities discovered an unlicensed facility being used to store massive quantities of fuel in violation of legal and safety requirements.
According to officials, more than 118,000 litres of petrol and around 570,000 litres of diesel were recovered, along with several large storage containers. The site was operating without valid permits and failed to comply with basic safety standards, raising serious concerns about potential hazards, including fire risks and environmental damage.
Legal proceedings have been initiated against those involved, as authorities continue to tighten their grip on illegal fuel hoarding. The crackdown comes at a time when fuel demand is rising, and such illicit practices are seen as contributing to artificial shortages and market instability. Officials have reiterated their commitment to taking strict action against those attempting to exploit the system through unlawful means.
