BISP Introduces Skill Training Initiative as Part of Poverty Graduation Program, Here’s Details

The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has announced a new skill training initiative aimed at helping underprivileged families start small businesses and break free from poverty.

The initiative reflects the program’s continued efforts to uplift deserving families by offering practical opportunities for financial independence.

Senator Rubina Khalid, Chairperson of BISP, shared the news during her recent visit to a BISP campsite at Government High School Iqbal Town, Lahore. The purpose of the visit was to assess the facilities provided to women collecting their quarterly Kafaalat stipends.

While interacting with beneficiaries, Senator Khalid listened to their concerns and directed BISP officials to take steps to reduce overcrowding at payment centers. She suggested conducting surveys at tehsil offices to streamline the disbursement process.

Senator Rubina Khalid also addressed media representatives, emphasizing the significant role of BISP in empowering women and improving lives. She highlighted that the program currently supports 9.5 million families across Pakistan, with plans to expand further.

To ensure transparency, BISP has introduced a new payment system involving six partner banks, making it easier and safer for beneficiaries to receive funds. Senator Khalid stressed that beneficiaries should trust only the official BISP number, 8171, to avoid fraud.

Reaffirming the program’s mission, Senator Khalid honored the legacy of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and underlined its focus on women’s economic empowerment.

She praised the leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto for their commitment to expanding and strengthening BISP for the betterment of deserving families.
