Despite an obvious difference in the COVID-19 situation in both nations, British parliamentarians have chastised their administration for maintaining Pakistan on the “red list” while promoting India to the “amber list” for foreign travel.
Some British MPs voiced their displeasure when the UK government modified its travel advisories, putting Pakistan and other countries on the high-risk nations’ red list, while India, Bahrain, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates would be upgraded to the medium-risk countries’ amber list on August 8 (UAE).
Due to a spike in COVID-19 cases and identification of the Delta variant following the UK’s “traffic light” system for international travel, Pakistan was placed on the red list in early April and India on April 19, respectively.
