Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD, widely seen as a global rival to Tesla, has begun developing a large-scale electric vehicle manufacturing hub spanning around 73 acres in Pakistan. The project marks a significant step in expanding the country’s electric mobility infrastructure and attracting foreign investment into the automotive sector. Once operational, the facility is expected to support local assembly, battery-related production, and broader EV ecosystem development.
Industry observers say the investment reflects growing confidence in Pakistan’s long-term EV market potential, driven by rising fuel costs, environmental concerns, and government incentives for clean transportation. The manufacturing hub is also expected to create new employment opportunities and strengthen technology transfer in the country’s automotive industry, positioning Pakistan as an emerging player in the regional electric vehicle supply chain.
