Canada Welcomed Record Number of Immigrants in 2022, Official Data Confirms

With many contributing variables, Canada saw a record-breaking influx of immigrants in 2017, setting new goals for the current year.

On Tuesday, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced that it has exceeded its 2021 objective of adding 431,645 new permanent residents.

The previous time Canada admitted such a big number of newcomers was in 1913; however, 2021 will break that record.

This is consistent with the government’s goals to increase immigration settlement over the next three years and fill the labor gap caused by various industry shortages.
