Car Sales Massively Jump by Over 57%

The auto industry performed well in the first eight months of the current fiscal year (8MFY22), led by a 57.5 percent increase in car sales, an 82.2 percent increase in truck sales, a 51.5 percent increase in jeeps/pickups, and a 6 percent increase in farm tractors.

However, bus sales fell by 12% between July and February 2021-22. Motorcycle and rickshaw sales fell by 3 percent in 8MFY22.

According to data issued by the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (Pama), car sales increased to 149,813 units in 8MFY22, up from 95,139 units in the same period the previous fiscal year. The month of February ended with high car sales of 18,054 units, compared to 16,985 units in January, despite having fewer working days.

According to Pama figures, combined Honda City/Civic sales increased 45 percent from 16,213 units in the same period last year to 23,552.
