CDA Directed to Put a Ban on F-9 Park Drive-in Cinema, Islamabad

The Islamabad High Court referred the matter to the CDA after hearing a petition demanding a ban on the drive-in cinema set up at the capital’s F-9 Park.

On Tuesday, IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah heard a petition asking for the closure of the federal capital’s open-air cinemas.

After listening to the applicant, the court instructed the CDA chairman to give a written order on the issue.

As per details, Yasir Chaudhry, the petitioner’s lawyer, appeared before the court and said that the drive-in cinema opened at the F-9 Park on 19th December, was just a source of entertainment for people who owned vehicles.

He added that, according to the orders of the Supreme Court, drive-in cinema was a commercial activity that was banned in public parks.

The petition concluded that environmental pollution was also caused by running a cinema in a public park.
