The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to strictly enforce the Zoning Regulations Act of 1992 of the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) and ensure its implementation by private housing society developers.
Ayesha Town, Islamabad Cooperative Housing Scheme, Gulf Residencia, Royal City, Royal Residencia, Dreamland City, Babar Enclave, Ideal Residencia, Rawal Enclave, and Yar Muhammad Society were among the housing plans whose offices were sealed earlier in October last year.
Officials with the CDA stated that the offices were closed to deter the development of unlawful housing complexes.
Two CDA directorates currently control the planning and development of private housing complexes in Islamabad. Zones II and V are governed by the housing department, whereas Zone IV is governed by the Regional Planning Directorate.
According to the ICT Zoning Regulations 1992, the federal capital was divided into five zones. Housing projects were authorized to plan and develop in Sector E-11 of Zones I, II, and V under the regulations.
However, officials noted that in 2010, the civic agency revised the statute to include Zone-IV, which was further divided into sub-zones, and to allow the Agro Farm Scheme as well as other plans.
Officials said that the CDA board is considering a variety of measures to prevent the creation of unauthorized housing complexes.
