Changan also Announces Drop in ‘Oshan X7’ Price in Pakistan

Changan, along with other leading car manufacturers like Kia Lucky Motors, Peugeot Pakistan, and Pakistan Suzuki, has decided to lower the price of its popular crossover SUV, the Oshan X7. This price reduction will be effective from May 4 to June 15, 2024. It’s noteworthy that this is the fourth time Changan Pakistan has dropped the price of its vehicles in just one week, indicating a trend of decreasing car prices in the industry.

Here are the updated prices for the Oshan X7:

  • The Comfort variant will now be priced at Rs. 7,999,000, reduced by Rs. 250,000 from its previous price of Rs. 8,299,000.
  • The FutureSense variant has also undergone a price decrease of Rs. 400,000, bringing its price down to Rs. 8,549,000 from Rs. 8,949,000.

In recent days, car prices have significantly decreased across various brands. Kia lowered the price of the Stonic by over Rs. 15 lakhs, followed by Peugeot 2008 with a reduction of Rs. 4.5 lakhs, and Suzuki Swift with a decrease of Rs. 7.1 lakhs. Such substantial price cuts are uncommon in Pakistan and have raised questions about the reasons behind them.

The main reason behind these significant price drops is a strategy aimed at keeping vehicle prices below Rs. 4 million without including the Goods and Services Tax (GST). With a high GST rate of 25% on cars, companies like Kia and Suzuki are striving to keep their prices below Rs. 4 million to avoid this tax burden. This move ultimately benefits consumers by making vehicles more affordable.
