Changan Launches New Electric Vehicle ‘Qiyuan A07’ to Compete with Tesla Model 3

Changan has recently introduced the Qiyuan A07, a new electric vehicle (EV), in China. This sedan offers two powertrain options: Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) and Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV).

Moreover, the All-electric Qiyuan A07 comes with a single-charge range of up to 710 kilometers. And it has a peak power output of 258 horsepower.

Changan aims to expand their NEV business, despite having Deepal and Avatr. The company is committed to establishing Qiyuan as an additional pillar in their lineup.

Five New Models by 2025

By 2025, Qiyuan plans to launch five different models. It includes the Qiyuan A05 and Qiyuan A06, which seem to be rebranded versions of the Changan Uni-V and Changan Lamore (Yida). These models are exclusively available with EREV powertrains. Meanwhile, the flagship Qiyuan A07 is offered in both an electric version and other powertrain options, providing customers with a diverse lineup.

The Qiyuan A07 has a sleek appearance with features like a thin LED running lights strip, retractable door handles, large five-spoke alloy wheels, and a slanted roof. Moreover, its design resembles popular models like the BYD Han, Nio ET7, Rising F7, and Dayun Yuanhang Y6, giving it a distinctive but appealing look.

Furthermore, the Qiyuan A07 offers a modern experience with a 15-inch floating screen on the center console, wireless phone charging stations, cup holders, a lovely wooden accent, and microfiber trim on the roof and front pillars.

Under the hood, the Qiyuan A07 shares the EPA1 platform with the Deepal SL03. The EREV version features an 88-horsepower 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine acting as a range extender.

For the All-electric variant, customers can choose from two electric motors: 218 horsepower and 258 horsepower. Moreover, they come with two battery options, which include a 58 kWh version with a range of 515 km. And an 80 kWh version, providing an impressive 710 km range.

Furthermore, the Qiyuan A07 is priced at Rs. 8 million. The price might seem high, but its remarkable feature position it as a strong competitor to the Tesla Model 3.
