Changan Pakistan Increased Car Prices by Rs. 1.05 Million Due to Economic Crisis

Changan Pakistan has announced an increase in car prices as the US dollar maintains its historic strength against the Pakistani rupee. Changan Pakistan raised the price of its cars by Rs. 1.05 million. The revised prices of Changan vehicles are effective February 6, 2023.

The company was compelled to increase car prices due to the devaluation of the local currency, uncertain economic conditions, and high inflation.

On January 3, 2023, at the close of the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee fell to a historic low of PKR 276.58 against the dollar. However, on February 6, 2023, the local currency rebounded against the dollar and recovered PKR 1.28 to end at PKR 275.30.

Currency experts believed that the dangerously low level of foreign exchange reserves and uncertainty over talks between the local authorities and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) further pressured the local currency.
