Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa has issued a strict order to refrain from using the word “sahib” with government officials’ titles.
The directive was given during a hearing related to the bail application of a suspect in the murder of a 10-year-old child in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK).
CJP Isa expressed dissatisfaction with the provincial police’s investigation and reprimanded the public prosecutor for addressing a deputy superintendent of police as “sir.” Justice Isa emphasized that using such titles had a negative impact and clarified that the official in question was just a DSP and, in his opinion, an incompetent one.
