CM Maryam Nawaz Announces Free Heart Transplants, Home Dialysis Machines in Punjab

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced plans to expand access to advanced healthcare by providing home dialysis machines across the province and offering free heart transplant procedures to deserving patients.

The announcement was made during the inauguration of the Jinnah Institute of Cardiology, where the Chief Minister highlighted the government’s efforts to improve specialised medical treatment for people across Punjab.

The newly established Maryam Nawaz Heart Transplant Centre has been described as Pakistan’s first dedicated facility focused on heart transplantation. The centre is expected to provide advanced cardiac treatment and create greater access to complex procedures for patients who may otherwise struggle to afford them.

The Jinnah Institute of Cardiology is equipped with modern medical infrastructure designed to support diagnosis, surgery and specialised cardiac care. Its facilities include six catheterisation laboratories, five operation theatres and a hybrid cath lab.

The institute also features advanced diagnostic technology, including a Tesla MRI and a 640-slice CT scanner. AI-enabled technology has also been incorporated into the facility as part of efforts to improve modern healthcare services.

Maryam Nawaz said the provincial government is continuing to expand free healthcare initiatives and increase the availability of medical facilities for the public.

The planned distribution of home dialysis machines is expected to provide additional support to patients who require regular treatment, potentially making care more accessible for families across different parts of Punjab.

The announcement reflects a broader push to expand specialised healthcare services within the province and reduce the financial burden on patients requiring expensive medical treatment.

With the new cardiac facilities and planned dialysis programme, the Punjab government aims to make advanced healthcare more accessible while strengthening the province’s medical infrastructure.
