Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched a major initiative to support students, which includes 50,000 scholarships, 100,000 free electric bikes, and interest-free loans.
The announcement was made during her visit to Bahauddin Zakaria University, where she highlighted the role of education in driving progress and emphasized the importance of awarding scholarships based on merit.
As part of the initiative, a Chinese company is expected to set up an electric bike manufacturing unit in Punjab. This step is aimed at promoting environmentally friendly transportation while supporting local production and innovation. The free e-bikes will help students travel easily and contribute to a greener future.
The Chief Minister also urged students to focus on education in advanced fields like artificial intelligence, robotics, and technology, which are crucial for future growth. In addition to scholarships and e-bikes, the government will provide interest-free loans of up to Rs30 million to help students start their own businesses.
This scheme aims to promote entrepreneurship and enable young people to contribute to the economy.
