Daraz Pakistan Introduces Cod Plus as a Step Toward a Cashless E-Commerce Ecosystem

Daraz Pakistan, the country’s leading e-commerce platform, is introducing a new feature called COD Plus, which will allow customers to switch their payment method at the time of delivery. With COD Plus, customers who initially selected Cash on Delivery will have the option to change their payment method to a digital one when they receive their order. At the time of delivery, customers will be sent a secure payment link that takes them back to the Daraz checkout page, where they can complete the transaction using a credit/debit card or digital wallet.

The introduction of COD Plus reflects a growing need to bridge the gap between Pakistan’s cash-reliant population and the expanding digital economy. While Pakistan has made considerable progress in financial inclusion in recent years, cash still accounts for the vast majority of e-commerce payments. Many shoppers choose Cash on Delivery not due to a lack of access to digital options, but due to deeply ingrained habits or a lack of trust in online transactions.

COD Plus is designed to address these concerns in a practical and customer-friendly manner. If customers are not home when the parcel arrives, they can still complete the payment remotely using the secure link. If they don’t have cash or loose change, they can quickly switch to digital payment without any hassle. For customers who prefer to pay by card, the option to earn reward points adds further value. At the same time, COD Plus offers a solution to trust-related concerns by allowing customers to receive the delivery at their doorstep, while still benefiting from the convenience of going cashless.

Ehsan Saya, Managing Director, Daraz Pakistan, emphasised that the company remains focused on solving local problems through innovation. “We understand the unique challenges of the Pakistani market and the evolving needs of our customers. COD Plus is a powerful bridge that retains the confidence of cash payments while unlocking the benefits of digital convenience. It’s a step forward in making e-commerce smarter, safer, and more inclusive.”

This solution is particularly relevant for Pakistan, where digital wallets and branchless banking services have already created a strong foundation for digital finance. However, the transition to online payments in e-commerce has remained slow. Initiatives like COD Plus are a key step toward accelerating that shift. By creating a middle path for customers who are hesitant to pay in advance, Daraz is helping to build confidence in the digital ecosystem and encouraging long-term behavioural change.

As the service rolls out nationwide, Daraz expects to see a strong increase in digital payment adoption, particularly among COD-first users who have been on the fence about switching. COD Plus not only enhances the last-mile experience but also supports Pakistan’s broader goals of digitising commerce and expanding access to secure, convenient financial services.
