Dubai Airport Named the World Busiest Airport for 9 Times in A Row

Rankings by the Airports Council International (ACI) show that Dubai International Airport (DXB) maintains its position as the busiest international hub globally for passengers in 2022 for the ninth consecutive year.

According to international flight traffic, London, Amsterdam, Paris, and Istanbul are the next four busiest hubs, followed by Dubai, according to the trade association for Airports, representing over 2,000 airports globally.

DXB, which lacks a domestic market, saw a year-over-year increase in passenger traffic of more than double, reaching 66.1 million.

Although there was an increase in demand for air travel worldwide in 2022, Dubai International Airport (DXB) stood out because of the commitment of its staff and the rigorous planning and preparation of all of its service partners.

Griffiths added that DXB’s readiness allowed the airport to handle the sharp rise in demand and provide tangible improvements to the entire airport experience for the 66 million visitors in 2022.

According to Luis Felipe de Oliveira, director general of ACI World, the most recent rankings represent a significant step towards returning to pre-pandemic levels. “We continue to advance cautiously amid multiple headwinds that could impact the speed and magnitude of global air traffic recovery,” de Oliveira said.

The second-largest aviation sector in the world after the US is now anticipated to benefit both domestic and international travel with China’s reopening.

This year, UAE is all set to host the biggest international events, including Dubai Airshow and Cop 28, which is a climate summit conference.
