350 rare licence plates will be sold at auction in Dubai to investors and collectors. These licence plates come in a variety of formats, such as two-digit plates for vintage cars and motorcycles and three, four, and five-digit plates for private cars with unique codes.This is the 71st luxury licence number online auction held by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
On May 22, registration for this online auction opened, and on May 29, bidding will start at 8 AM. There are only five days left in the auction. In this auction, licence plates are sold subject to a 5% VAT.Each bidder must have a Dubai Traffic File in order to participate. They also need to present a security check for AED 5,000 made out to the RTA and pay a non-refundable participation fee of AED 120.
The “P 7” number plate from Dubai set a new record in April for being the most expensive number plate ever sold. AED 55 million ($15 million) was the winning bidder’s price.This transaction broke the previous global record, which had been achieved 16 years prior in Abu Dhabi with the selling of a pricey licence plate for AED 52.5 million.
