Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) is taking a futuristic step by implementing artificial intelligence to keep tabs on its extensive fleet of vehicles and drivers. The move aims to enhance services and ensure safety for the city’s residents and visitors.
DTC, a subsidiary of the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority, is employing AI at its control center to closely watch over 14,500 drivers and 7,200 vehicles, including taxis, limousines, school buses, public buses, and motorcycles.
The control center is instrumental in helping DTC make swift and efficient decisions, especially during events when transport services are in high demand. It aids senior management in orchestrating the distribution of taxis to meet the surges in demand. It also keeps a close eye on driver behavior and tracks vehicle routes, including those of school buses, delivery motorcycles, and limousines.
Ensuring the safety and punctuality of pupils riding school buses is a top priority. DTC is committed to monitoring school bus operations, guaranteeing the welfare of students as they travel to and from school. In addition, the center actively supports drivers, addressing their needs, and measures the daily efficiency of vehicle movements.
Earlier in the year, Dubai introduced advanced buses with smart features like surveillance cameras and systems to ensure child safety on board. These buses are equipped with GPS tracking and emergency alert systems, providing an added layer of protection.
Meanwhile, in neighboring Abu Dhabi, special cameras on school buses help identify and penalize drivers who fail to stop when the bus’s stop sign is extended, ensuring the safety of students during drop-offs.
