Dubai to Use AI For Air Traffic Control at Airports

Dubai is using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to improve air traffic control systems at its airports, aiming to enhance efficiency. The contract for the Integrated Air Traffic Control Suite is awarded to Swedish aerospace company Saab. It is currently in the process of installation at Dubai International Airport, Al Maktoum International Airport (Dubai World Central), Emirates Flight Academy, and the Contingency Operations Centre.

The AI-powered system simplifies the work of air traffic controllers by consolidating crucial radar and flight data. It reduces their workload and enhances safety by automating specific tasks.

Dubai aims to complete the implementation within a year. Additionally, they employed advanced AI to manage traffic flow in terminals and prepare for potential incidents.

Saab’s Total Airport Management technology provides a comprehensive overview of airport resources, enabling efficient allocation of personnel and swift responses to emergencies.

By monitoring the airside of the airport, the system promptly identifies delays and signals the need for extra staff. These technological advancements streamline operations and improve the overall passenger experience at Dubai’s airports.
