Egypt Declared Malairia-Free after 100-Years Effort

Egypt has officially been declared free of malaria by the World Health Organization (WHO) after nearly 100 years of dedicated efforts to eliminate the disease. The WHO commended both the Egyptian government and its people, calling this achievement a significant and “historic” milestone. Egypt now joins the United Arab Emirates and Morocco as the third country in the WHO’s Eastern Mediterranean Region to be recognized as malaria-free.

To earn this certification, Egypt demonstrated that there has been no transmission of malaria for the past three consecutive years. However, while the country celebrates this achievement, health officials emphasize the importance of staying alert to prevent the disease from returning. Continued efforts will be needed to maintain Egypt’s malaria-free status in the years ahead.
