The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has asked for help from the Pakistan army for the upcoming general election on February 8, 2022. In a letter to the Ministry of Interior, the ECP requested information on security arrangements and wants a report on the availability of personnel in all provinces and Islamabad by November 27.
This decision to involve the military comes because there aren’t enough police available for election duty at polling stations. Earlier, the army had said no to election duty, mentioning security concerns. Meanwhile, the ECP is getting ready for the election by printing the final voter lists and will soon announce the code of conduct for the election.
