Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, recently shared a video featuring the company’s latest robot called Optimus Gen 2. This robot looks quite human-like and can do things like squats and boiling eggs. It’s an improvement over Optimus Gen 1, which was introduced in March. Compared to another robot called Bumblebee from September 2021, the progress in a year seems to be moving forward quickly.
This robot is part of Tesla’s division that works on artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics. Tesla emphasizes an AI-first approach, meaning it heavily relies on artificial intelligence technology. The company believes that, along with specific hardware for processing information (inference hardware), this combination is crucial for achieving fully autonomous, two-legged robotic movement, which is a big part of Tesla’s vision.
