Elon Musk to Launch ‘X TV’ to Compete with YouTube

Elon Musk’s company, X, is set to launch a TV app for Amazon and Samsung smart TVs next week to compete with YouTube. Elon Musk recently shared a tweet about X, his upcoming app, teasing its imminent release with the caption “Coming Soon.”

Reports suggest that Musk is set on competing with YouTube, and his vision for streaming video seems to be focused on media celebrities, online influencers, and online video game streaming. X has urged content creators to migrate their entire video content to X, asserting that they stand to benefit from enhanced ad revenue streams.

It is worth mentioning that YouTube held the title of the most-watched streaming platform in 2023. However, Musk appears to be undeterred, as he released a preliminary version of the X app to select users last October. This trial version included video and audio calling features, which are part of his broader vision to transform the app into a comprehensive “super app.”

The launch of X’s TV app comes as the company seeks to move into the crowded streaming video market. While competing with YouTube, which Google owns, isn’t easy, luring creators with wads of cash could help X catch up. Additionally, the super app will include a range of features such as messaging and online payment capabilities, providing users with a one-stop-shop for their digital needs.
