Elon Musk will No Longer Allow Users to Block Accounts on ‘X’ (Twitter)

Elon Musk, the owner of social Media platform X, announced to eliminate the protective functionality of blocking accounts. Henceforth, users will no longer be able to block any account, another contentious decision for the company.

The block feature on X permits users to prevent specific accounts from contacting them, viewing their posts, or following them. However, Musk announced through a post on X that the “Block” option would be removed as a “feature,” except for direct messages (DMs).

He further stated that X would uphold the mute function, which shields users from seeing designated accounts, but unlike blocking, it doesn’t notify the other account about the action taken.

Many people have criticized the decisions of Elon Musk regarding X and called his action ‘irresponsible’.
