Amitabh Bachchan, a legendary figure in Bollywood, recently bid farewell to his long-standing role as the host of the television show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC). After 23 years of hosting the popular quiz show, Bachchan emotionally announced his departure in a video shared on Sony Television’s official social media handles.
The emotional farewell took place during the grand finale of KBC’s 15th season, where notable guests like Sheela Devi, Avinash Bharti, Sharmila Tagore, Vidya Balan, and Sara Ali Khan were present. As the episode concluded, a special message from the show’s team played, reflecting on decades-old memories, accompanied by compilations of some of the most memorable moments.
In the tearful farewell, the 81-year-old icon expressed his emotions, saying, “Deviyon aur sajjano, ab hum ja rahay hain aur kal se yeh manch abh nahi sajega,” which translates to, “Ladies and gentlemen, now I am leaving, and from tomorrow, this stage will no longer be adorned. I cannot gather the courage to say goodbye; neither do I have the courage nor the heart to say it.”
Kaun Banega Crorepati, the Hindi adaptation of the Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? franchise, began with Amitabh Bachchan as the presenter for its initial seasons. In the third installment, Shah Rukh Khan took over as the host, but Bachchan later returned and continued to host the show until its conclusion.
The farewell marked the end of an era for KBC, and Bachchan’s emotional moment resonated with fans who had followed his journey as the host over the years.
