Minister for Power Khurram Dastgir Khan announced to keep the price of electricity uniform across the country from next year and said that the power consumers of Karachi will get relief of Rs 315 billion.
According to details, Energy Minister Khurram Dastgir said in a press conference that next year a subsidy of Rs 589 billion will be given on electricity across the country, a subsidy of Rs 315 billion has been kept for Karachi’s electricity consumers and a subsidy of Rs 171 billion will be given separately to keep the price of electricity the same.
The minister declared that the federal government would bear the cost of Rs870 billion for the electricity bills of customers throughout the country. We must integrate 3,800 MW into the current fiscal year’s system, following which a relief of Rs171 billion will be extended to the electricity consumers of Karachi.
Khurram Dastgir said that 1980 MW power system has been added from Thar project, the development journey in the energy sector has been restarted, CPEC projects which were stopped have been restarted, the light that was extinguished since 2018 has been brought back.
He said that gas production from Pakistan is decreasing every year, gas reserves in Pakistan are limited.
