Every Year in Barrow, Alaska the Sun Sets in November 18 and Rises Next Year in January 23. There is Total Darkness for 67 Days

Did you ever come across the term “Polar Night”?

Polar Night is known as a phenomenon that occurs every winter in the town that comes under the Arctic Circle.

The same phenomenon is observed in Barrow, Alaska, where the sun sets on November 18 and rises next year on January 23. There is a long darkness that prevails over the town for 67 days.

The intensity of darkness can be analyzed by the time we look at the sky before sunrise or just after sunset, and it is a result of the small tilt of Earth’s axis that makes sun discs invisible above the horizons.

Alaska is known as a mysterious city due to its geographical location. People residing in this town also experience a two-month-long day during the summer solstice.

According to CNN’s weather expert, it isn’t just the town of Barrow that faces months of darkness, but inconsistent day and night cycles are noted across Kaktovik, Point Hope near the Chukchi Sea, and Anaktuvuk Pass as well.
