Facebook Unveils New Features for Content Creators to Earn Money

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced on Tuesday that the company would develop new features, beginning with Instagram, that will allow content creators to earn money by recommending products on the platform, as well as a marketplace to help marketers interact with influencers.

While speaking with Adam Mosseri, head of Facebook-owned Instagram, during a live-streamed livestream, Zuckerberg also said the social network would introduce “creator shops” as part of the e-commerce drive.

The announcements are part of Facebook’s initiative to support the “maker economy,” in which social media influencers, journalists, and others make money directly from their fans through sites such as Clubhouse, Patreon, Substack, and YouTube.

According to Zuckerberg, Facebook will develop an affiliate program that will enable creators to receive a share of revenue from the items they endorse.

A Facebook spokesperson refused to say how much money designers will make or when the features will be available.
