FIA Islamabad Zone has arrested a man in connection with an alleged attempt to obtain a US student visa using forged documents.
The case was initiated after a complaint was received from the US Embassy regarding documents submitted as part of the visa application. Following the complaint, FIA officials launched an investigation into the applicant and the people involved in processing his case.
According to the agency, the suspect allegedly paid Rs. 200,000 to an educational consultancy in Lahore for assistance with his visa application. Investigators later examined the documents submitted with the case and allegedly found discrepancies in several financial and tax records.
The FIA said that fake bank statements and fabricated Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) tax documents were allegedly prepared for use in the visa application. Other documents submitted with the application are also being examined as part of the investigation.
An FIR has been registered against the suspect and his alleged agent under relevant provisions of the Pakistan Penal Code. The investigation will now focus on establishing how the documents were prepared and identifying any other individuals who may have been involved in the alleged fraud.
Officials are also examining the role of the educational consultancy through which the suspect reportedly processed his application and made the payment.
The FIA has continued investigations into cases involving fraudulent documentation and illegal practices connected with overseas travel and visa applications. Authorities have advised applicants to use genuine documents and follow official procedures when applying for foreign visas.
Further action in the case will depend on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
