Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research (MoFS&R) Tariq Bashir Cheema stated that non-genetically modified organisms (GMO) oilseeds would be imported moving forward after the government announced that the food ministry would ease the import of soybean-based chicken feed.
The minister also suggested that people cease eating chicken since it was unhealthy given that it was now being fed meals derived from GMO oilseeds. In his Wednesday press conference remarks, he claimed that GMO soybeans are dangerous and might cause diseases like cancer.
The government recently made special preparations to end the months-long drama of the oilseeds trapped in Port Qasim, which had taken several nasty turns.
