YouTube now has a feature that allows you to search for a song by humming it. Instead of knowing the lyrics or the name of the song, you can simply hum the tune and YouTube will search for it. This feature is helpful when you have a song stuck in your head but can’t remember the title or the artist.
What’s interesting is that this new thing YouTube is trying is quite similar to something Google, the company that owns YouTube, already did in 2020. Google had a feature that let people identify songs by humming, whistling, or making sounds into the microphone icon in the Google app, the Google Search widget, and Google Assistant.
To use this feature, follow these steps:
1. Open the YouTube app or website.
2. Tap on the search bar.
3. Look for the microphone icon next to the search bar and tap on it.
4. Start humming the tune of the song you want to search for. Try to hum the melody as accurately as possible.
5. YouTube will process your humming and search for matching songs.
6. The search results will display a list of songs that closely match your humming.
This feature utilizes machine learning algorithms to analyze the melody of your humming and compare it to a vast database of songs. While it may not always provide an exact match, it can help you find the song you’re looking for or discover similar songs.
