Free WiFi is Now Available in Another City of Punjab

People living in Rahim Yar Khan can now enjoy free internet as the Punjab government brings its free Wi-Fi service to the city. This new facility is a big step forward for the region, helping locals get online without paying extra.

With this latest move, Rahim Yar Khan joins a growing list of cities in Punjab where free public internet is available. From busy markets to crowded crossings, residents can connect at popular spots like Adda Khanpur, City Pull, School Bazaar, the railway station, Jail Chowk, and Hospital Chowk. The coverage also extends from Dari Sangi to Chak No 72-PN, helping more students and daily commuters stay connected.

The free Wi-Fi plan is part of the Punjab Safe Cities Authority’s broader goal to improve digital access for everyone. So far, more than 270 Wi-Fi points have been set up in 11 districts, with over 200 in Lahore alone. Other cities like Kasur, Sheikhupura, Gujrat, Sahiwal, and Murree also have active hotspots serving millions of users.

Officials say the project has already helped over 13 million people connect online, using more than 265 terabytes of data. The goal is to make internet access simple and easy, especially for students and workers who need it for study or work.

While the service is free, it’s mainly meant for quick browsing and staying in touch, not for heavy video watching or emergency calls. For the people of Rahim Yar Khan, this is another sign that digital access is growing and life is getting more connected, one city at a time.
