The prices of ghee and cooking oil in Pakistan have seen a significant decrease over the past month. This price reduction provides much-needed relief to consumers amidst ongoing economic challenges.
According to the dealers association, the prices for both Brand A and Brand B cooking oil and ghee have been slashed considerably. Brand A cooking oil is now Rs 75 cheaper per liter, retailing at Rs 525. Similarly, Brand A ghee has seen a Rs 25 reduction, now priced at Rs 525 per kilogram.
Brand B products have also become more affordable. Brand B ghee and cooking oil are now available for Rs 380 per liter after a Rs 70 price cut. This significant drop in prices offers some financial relief to consumers who have been struggling with high costs.
This decrease in ghee and cooking oil prices comes at a time when Pakistan is facing broader economic challenges. The State Bank of Pakistan, in its half-yearly economic review, projected an inflation rate of 23 to 25 percent for the current financial year. This high inflation rate has been a major concern for many households, as it affects the cost of living and purchasing power.
However, the report also brings some hope for the future. It predicts that inflation will steadily decrease over the next six months. If this trend continues, the inflation rate could fall to as low as 5 to 7 percent by September 2025. This potential decrease in inflation is encouraging news for consumers, as it could lead to more stable and affordable prices for essential goods and services.
