Pakistani workers aiming to build their careers in Japan have received encouraging news as new opportunities are opening through a language testing program introduced by the Japan Foundation.
For the first time, a Basic Japanese Language Test will be held in Islamabad to assess applicants who wish to apply for work visas under Japan’s Specified Skilled Worker Program. The test is designed to check whether candidates can communicate in simple, everyday Japanese, a requirement set by the Japanese government for foreign workers.
The test will be conducted at S-Cons School of Accountancy, F-8 Markaz, Islamabad on three different dates: October 11, November 1, and November 8, 2025. According to the organizers, only 500 candidates can take part, making registration extremely competitive.
Officials explained that passing this test is now compulsory for Pakistanis who want to qualify for skilled employment and long-term residence in Japan. It ensures that workers have the language skills needed to perform jobs effectively, integrate into Japanese workplaces and adapt to daily life in the country.
This step is being welcomed as a major breakthrough for Pakistani job seekers, since Japan has one of the world’s strongest economies and faces a rising demand for foreign workers in sectors like construction, healthcare, manufacturing and hospitality.
Experts believe this initiative will not only provide Pakistanis with better employment opportunities but also strengthen ties between Japan and Pakistan in terms of workforce collaboration.
For many aspiring workers, this new test marks the first step toward a promising career and stable future in Japan.
