Federal Energy Minister Khurram Dastagir said that to control load shedding by June 15, 2022, the government will need about 329 billion rupees, “supply from May 1 and blast furnace oil from May 2,” Khurrum Dastagir announced at a press conference here.
The energy minister said the government would need an amount of Rs. 108 crore by May 25, Rs. 136 crore by June 7 and Rs. Flanked by Minister of State Hashim Notezai, Khurrum Dastagir said the circular debt reached Rs 2.46 trillion and blamed the recent power outages on the PTI government for failing to organize fuel for power plants.
“It was not a problem of generating capacity, but that technical and fuel issues had led to electricity shortages in the country”, the minister said
Due to fuel shortages, about 5,739 MW is forcibly shut down, while 2,156 MW is not in the system due to technical reasons. He said that to increase energy production, the power plants would be supplied with RLNG from May 1 and the required amount of fuel oil from May 2.
The minister stated no load shedding when the PMLN government ended its five-year term on May 31, 2018.
