PM Approves Up to Rs. 2 Crore for Employees’ Families After Death

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved a revised support package for families of federal government employees who die during service, with financial assistance for security related deaths rising to Rs20 million.

The revised package was formally notified by the Establishment Division on September 8, 2026, and applies to regular federal employees who die in service on or after August 28.

For ordinary in service deaths, families will receive a lump sum ranging from Rs600,000 for employees in BS-1 to 4 to Rs3 million for BS-20 and above. In cases linked to terrorism, bomb blasts, encounters, riots and similar security duties, the grant can reach Rs20 million. Employees who die accidentally while performing official duties will be eligible for up to Rs7 million, subject to an official inquiry.

The package also protects other benefits. Families of deceased employees will receive 100% pension based on the employee’s service and last pay. Children will be entitled to free education up to graduation in public institutions, including tuition, books and living expenses.

Families may also retain government housing under specified conditions, while one family member can receive a regular government job from BS-1 to BS-15 without advertisement.
