On Friday, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority advertised 19 government rest houses in various parts of the province for private parties to rent.
Expressions of interest for potential bidders for the rest houses were released on Friday, with bids expected to be opened on June 29.
On the prime minister’s orders, the government handed over 169 rest houses from various departments in the province to the tourism department in August 2019 in order to encourage tourism and increase tourist facilities.
The tourism department first conducted a survey of 169 rest houses that were handed over to it by various authorities, and then classified them for outsourcing in phases, as per officials.
According to them, 47 of the 169 rest houses were ready for service in the first phase, 80 required major repairs, and the rest were occupied by various government departments.
