Government Reduces 10-year Passport Fee by Half

On Tuesday, Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed declared that the government had reduced the fee for a ten-year passport by 50%.

He asked people to apply for passports valid for up to ten years at a press conference to reduce the pressure on the passport office.

The Minister said that at the Tehsil headquarters level, the NADRA network of offices will be expanded and the NADRA will issue 100,000 identity cards every day.

Sheikh Rasheed said the names of both the PML-N supremo and his daughter Maryam Nawaz have been on the ECL since August 2018, regarding the passport of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif expiring tonight.

He stated that it is not possible to grant passports to those on the ECL. However, he did say that Nawaz Sharif was not prevented from returning to Pakistan. He said if Nawaz Sharif required it, the emergency travel documents will be released.
