The government is considering three options to increase salaries by 515% in the budget for the next financial year, as the Pay and Pensions Commission failed to produce a report ahead of the next budget, leading to the Prime Minister’s decision to grant another expansion.
The Department of Finance issued a notice to the Pay and Pensions Commission announcing the granting of a further extension.
The deadline for submitting the Commission’s recommendation was June 30 2022.
First-level official sources said that from March 1, 2022, the first PTI-led government granted a 15% inequality reduction allowance for civil servants seconded from grades 1 to 19.
Yet, the new government of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif-led announced another 10% increase in pensions and raised the minimum wage to 25,000 per month.
