Govt Announces Eid-ul-Adha 2024 Holidays

The Cabinet Division has submitted a proposal to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat regarding holidays for Eidul Adha. Reports indicate that the federal government has officially sanctioned a three-day holiday period for Eidul Adha, set from June 17 to 19.

According to sources, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has endorsed the proposal forwarded by the Cabinet Division.

Pakistan is scheduled to observe Eidul Adha on June 17, following the sighting of the Zil Hajj moon on June 7. Eidul Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, is a significant festival in Islam, commemorating Prophet Ibrahim’s readiness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God. During this festival, Muslims traditionally sacrifice animals, sharing the meat with family members, friends, and those in need.

The tradition of sacrificing animals in remembrance of Prophet Ibrahim’s act continues throughout the three days of Eidul Adha. This announcement of holidays aims to facilitate nationwide celebrations and observances of this important religious occasion.
