Govt has Potential to Collect Rs. 24 Trillion Revenue, PM Shehbaz Sharif

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif believes Pakistan can collect more money than ever before, surpassing a whopping Rs 24 trillion. That’s over double the usual target of Rs 9.4 trillion for taxes in a year.

Speaking at an event to honor hardworking officers from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), he pointed out that corruption, laziness, and mistakes cost the country a lot of money—about three times more than what they should be making each year.

He thinks this extra money could be used for important things like paying off debts and building things like hospitals, schools, and roads. But there are challenges too, like not enough people paying taxes compared to how much money the country makes overall, and the debts keep getting bigger, both inside and outside of Pakistan.

Shehbaz Sharif also talked about how the government is trying to get back Rs 2.7 trillion that’s stuck in different places where they’re fighting legal battles. They’re even making new rules to help get this money back.
