Abdul Zahir Achakzai, Executive Vice President of the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL), told the media in a meeting with industrialists that a new fibre optic cable was laid out in the Gwadar district to provide the area with top-of-the-line facilities that are good news for future investors.
While stressing the importance of modern communication infrastructure requirements for industrial zones such as Gwadar among others, he said, “We have already taken a number of measures in Korangi, along with the rest of the city to improve internet connectivity.”
CPEC is an important investment for Pakistan and in order to operate its large-scale operations smoothly, the country needs to provide the region with a faster Internet. The corridor is now worth over $60 billion and PTCL is taking steps to ensure that the area has access to strong internet connectivity.
A PKR 38 billion cross-border optical fibre project was also approved a few weeks ago to provide a route for international connectivity with China across Pakistan’s northern border to ensure constant, uninterrupted connectivity between the Country’s northern and southern borders.
While talking about KATI, its president Saleemuz Zaman said, “We urge all service providers in the region to establish effective cooperation with the Development and Management Company of Korangi Industrial and Trading Estate (KITE-DMC) as many infrastructure projects are underway.”
