For many Pakistanis, the dream of traveling to Europe for leisure or business opportunities has faced visa-related challenges. However, the Government of Sweden has introduced a streamlined procedure for obtaining the Schengen visa, providing Pakistani citizens with a more accessible route to explore Europe.
Where to Apply:
Applicants from Pakistan seeking a Schengen visa to visit Sweden can submit their applications at VFS Global centers in various locations, including Bangkok, Yangon, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Manila, Cebu, Jakarta, Bali, Phnom Penh, Kuala Lumpur, or Singapore. The responsibility lies with the applicant to choose the application submission location, and after submission, it is forwarded to the Embassy of Sweden in Bangkok for processing and decision.
Duration of Stay:
The Schengen visa allows a maximum stay of 90 days within the Schengen area. Applicants need to substantiate a minimum bank balance covering six months, and the bank statement must bear the signature and seal of the relevant bank officer.
Financial Requirements:
Applicants must demonstrate the ability to sustain themselves in Sweden, providing proof of 2400 euros (731,311 PKR) or its equivalent in their bank account for a 30-day stay in the country.
Insurance and Application Fee:
Applicants are required to contract a full Schengen travel insurance, covering medical, hospitalization, repatriation costs, and associated care expenses, with a minimum amount of 30,000 euros (9,141,395 PKR). The visa fee for applicants from Pakistan is 80 Euros(24,377 PKR).
Eligible Insurance Companies:
Several insurance companies, both European and Pakistani, are eligible, including ACE, AIG, Asia Insurance Co Ltd, EFU General, IGI, and more.
Biometric Data:
Applicants need to provide biometric data, including fingerprints and a photograph, as part of the visa application process. Exemptions apply for children under 12 and individuals for whom fingerprinting is physically impossible.
Appeal Process:
In case of visa refusal, applicants have the right to appeal within three weeks of receiving the decision. The Embassy initially decides whether to review the decision, considering the timeliness of the appeal.
This announcement signifies a positive step toward facilitating travel for Pakistani citizens to Europe, promoting cultural exchange and business opportunities.
