Hyundai apologises after Pakistani partner’s Tweet in support with Kashmir upsets Indians

Hyundai Motor of South Korea expressed its heartfelt apologies for any offence caused to Indians by a “unauthorised” tweet from its Pakistani partner’s account that expressed solidarity with the people of Indian-occupied Kashmir (IoK).

In a tweet, Hyundai said, “As a business principle, Hyundai Motor Company does not comment on political or religious matters in any given region.”

According to Hyundai, its independently-owned distributor in Pakistan posted “unauthorised” IoK-related social media messages from its accounts and “misused the Hyundai brand name.”

We sincerely apologise to the Indian people for any offence caused as a result of this unofficial social media activity. Hyundai stated this. “We’ve put in place procedures to avoid this from happening again.

Hyundai’s apology comes after hundreds of Indian social media users called for a boycott. India considers all of Kashmir to be part of the country, a view Pakistan rejects. According to social media users, the corporation should apologise for being inconsiderate of India’s position in the decades-old conflict.
