‘I Come from a Farming Village, and Every time I Win a Medal I think about My Origins and that Motivates me to do Better’, Arshad Nadeem

Arshad Nadeem, who made history by winning a gold medal at the Paris Olympics 2024, recently opened up about his difficult journey from a small village in Pakistan to the world stage.

Born in Mian Channu, a town in Punjab, Nadeem came from humble beginnings. His father worked as a construction laborer, and the family faced many financial challenges.

Despite these hardships, Nadeem found his passion in sports. Though he initially played cricket and took part in athletics, he eventually shifted his focus to javelin throw in 2016.

Interestingly, his experience in cricket, particularly his throwing technique, played a significant role in his success in javelin.

Nadeem also spoke about his friendly rivalry with India’s Neeraj Chopra, a fellow javelin thrower, and expressed his deep gratitude for the overwhelming support he has received from the people of Pakistan. He emphasized how the encouragement from his nation kept him motivated throughout his career.

His remarkable throw of 92.97 meters at the Olympics not only earned him a gold medal but also demonstrated his dedication, perseverance, and resilience. Nadeem’s story is one of overcoming obstacles and never giving up, and his victory is a source of pride and inspiration for his entire country.
