“If few thousand overseas Pakistanis make an investment in Pakistan, we will get rid of international monetary fund (IMF)”: Imran Khan.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has stated that Pakistanis living abroad are the country’s “greatest asset,” and that if expats’ full potential is realised, the government will not require loans.

“If we fully exploit the potential of this asset, we will not want loans or IMF assistance,” Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said at the opening of a digital portal in Islamabad to ease the verification process of power of attorney for overseas.

He bemoaned the fact that previous governments did not view foreigners as a valuable addition to the country, instead adding to their challenges.

The prime minister stated that expatriate Pakistanis are “desperate” to invest or start a business in their home country, but that due to corruption, they are unable to do so.
