“If Foreign Players Speak in Broken English its Fine, But When Pakistan Players Speak in Urdu, They Call us Uneducated”, Shadab Khan

Pakistan’s fast bowler Hassan Ali recently faced criticism from fans who scrutinized his social media language, prompting his teammates to come to his defense.

All-rounder Shadab Khan shared pictures on a social media platform playfully asking if his modeling skills had improved, to which Hassan Ali responded with an affectionate caption expressing well wishes for his friend. However, this seemingly harmless exchange triggered a negative reaction from a fan who chastised Hassan for not using proper English, considering his status as an international cricketer.

Following the criticism, Shadab and Shan Masood came forward to defend their fellow friend. Shadab highlighted that foreign players frequently engage in casual English communication, rebuking people’s negative stance toward language and culture. Shan added to the conversation by shedding light on the inclination to demean others to elevate oneself, urging Hassan to stay true to his genuine self.

Other Pakistani cricketers like Babar Azam and Umar Akmal have also been subjected to criticism before over their English language skills. The incident highly reflects the reluctance towards embracing individuality and culture.
